    Heater Hose to Intake positioning?

My '73 L82 (no a/c) heater hose developed a slow leak so I just replaced them. I've looked at a lot of pictures of sb's with a.i.r., including Top Flight cars. Some have the heater hose to intake routed in front of the diverter valve and others behind it, or over the top of the valve cover. The aim is not helpful as it does not show heater hose routing WITH the a.i.r. for '73 or '72.

I believe my old heater hoses were original, no markings, with grooves and original dated tower clamps. The intake heater hose on mine went through the front of the diverter valve, but the new one will bend (and restrict the flow of coolant) if I do this. Perhaps the old one was "formed" or bent at that end?

I've attached some pics with the different variations, the first is an old picture of mine. Can someone tell me which one is correct?
    Any opinions are greatly appreciated,

Chris, have you looked at the AIM for 73 sometimes it details the hoses and there routing pretty good.

        Thanks Ed,

Actually I've looked at both '72 and '73 AIMS. There are illustrations of the heater hose setup and also A.I.R. The problem is that they don't show them together. So I really don't know the correct routing around the diverter valve to the intake fitting. Lots of different variations out there.

Picture number one I believe is the correct position for a 73 L82 no air car. I have a one owner(until I got it) 73 L82 no air car with 23000 miles on it. The hoses are still then original ones and don't appear to have been touched.

            Thanks Russ,

That's very helpful since you have the same car. I really didn't want to replace mine but the slow leak in the one hose was really bothering me. I'll have to move it around a bit to try and get that bend out at the intake. Looking at the old hose I really think it was pre-bent/formed.
