I have some strange noises coming from the 4 speed, manual transmission of my 63 corvette. I live in New Jersey. Would anyone know a reliable place to take it? My preference would be NJ or Pa. Thanks.

You're in luck; you have several choices fairly close-by:
Larry Fischer at D&L Transmissions in New York------www.muncie4speed.net
Ed Hartnett, Lansdowne, PA----(610) 625-9381
Gary Ramadei, Connecticut ----- can be contacted through the members list on this boardIn Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Re: 63 Corvette, 4 speed transmission rebuild
Thanks, Joe. I am not sure if the problem is the trans., the clutch or throw-out bearing. It is a new clutch and throw-out bearing. I put 900 miles on it. Sometimes it squeals when the car is not moving. The clutch pedal is down to the floor (clutch disengaged). Sometimes I can fell it in the transmission when I shift gears. Sometimes it makes the squealing noise when I make a turn. I will ask my local mechanic to look at it first. If it needs trans. work, I want someone who knows what he/she is doing.- Top
