A question for anyone who purchased a new 66 GM Grille# 3875746 from GM PARTS DIRECT

Do these new GM Grilles have the inverted 6 and the letters C B C, stamped on the inside lip at the bottom of Grille as the old originals do? Dutch

    Hello Harry,

I'm not 100% sure about the backwards "6", but I doubt it. The CBC lettering is only found on period production pieces.

I was considering buying one if I cannot repair mine. I only have slight pitting and some discoloration on the chrome at the edge of the eggcrate. I am not sure what I can use to clean up that chrome. Dutch

        Harry,

I'm not sure what the end results you are looking for or how correct you want your car, as we all have different goals. If you have an original production period grill with the CBC markings why not have the original restored rather than putting into the reproduction part?

Richard Fortier is one fellow who will be able to help you if you want to restore/repair your original grill. If having a new shiny grill is your preference purchase the repop.

I pulled my 67 grill out of a corner of the shop last month, it had some pitting on the chrome edge and I thought I would have to replace it. I had some Mother's Mag Wheel and Aluminum Polish on the shelf so, I tried using it with a microfiber towel. It worked extremely well , I was very surprised how good a job it did. Saved me from buying a new one.
