I have installed a few 57 dash rails both with and without the speaker trim in place, without any problems.

like Bruce I have done mine a few times. I have always put the speaker screen and trim in first with no problem. What difficulty are you encountering?

Jerry, the fasteners nearest the "hump" and trim and screen can be a bear. I used a small extension and socket without the ratchet IIRC, keeping pressure on the trim with one hand. Good luck! Steve

Jerry the speaker grill chrome trim should be able to be installed before or after but better to be done before the dash extension.. The black screen is installed onto the chrome bezel from the back side this is what holds it in place. Painted lower pieces installed from the outside and then the tabs bent over to hold in place. I have attached a few pictures from my recent addition showing the behind the dash in front of the radio power supply the black speaker grill. Keep in mind my recent addition did not come from the factory with a radio. the first or second owner installed an after market radio and cut a round hole in the black cardboard behind the speaker grill. Regards Dave
