66 Aircleaner Lid decal

my 66 is a late build L79. When I bought the car it had a beat up air cleaner lid which I suspect was a repro, i.e. no decal on top and no silk screen on the bottom. I bought a nice Vette Products of Michigan silk screened lid at Carlisle.

Do all the 66's have some form of decal on the top of the lid? I've seen them both ways.

No decal on top is correct.

So when did the decal start? Was it with the 67 model year?

should be calrified that only 327 did not have decals on the lid - becasue the 427 and prior year 396 did have decals. What they were made of and original look is another subject.
