Hoping to get some input here, over time I have observed quite a few 64-67 rh #9000488 horns used on a/c cars to have a shorter mounting bracket. It's shorter by 1/2".
The part number, trumpet orientation, terminal, etc are exactly the same otherwise as a regular one. There is no way the longer bracket could have just been cut shorter as it would not work do to the mounting hole location.
I was told at one time by one of the best horn rebuilders that this was the case. A shorter bracket was used for clearance issues.
That said, how was this possible when the part number for both 488 horn versions is the same? I see nothing in any of the aim's or any where else unless I missed it. No mention in any JM's
Can anyone shed any light on this?
Anyone have the ability to check the horns in their own cars if they are known originals?
Thanks!
