    '67 Horn Relay Appearance

I have an original 837 horn relay that I would like to get restored. The JG says the cover and base should be Cadmium or Zinc plated. I am not great on finishes and trying to learn. Would the color of both be silver. On the backside of the base/mounting bracket of mine the original plating is still there and looks like a low sheen silver.

Yes Dick, I have bought lots from John Sr over the years & have sent Jr a note asking cost. My question was re
the difference in appearance and sheen between cad and zinc. Does the cad have a gold or green cast?

        James:

Both would be low sheen silver. Cad is more durable, but is not done very much anymore due to metal toxicity.

Clear cad is silver, the hues are added to the plating solution

            James,

Here's a thread that has pictures of my 67 horn relay before and after zinc plating:

Sometimes these old parts, will just clean up well.
