Here is a picture of that 7028209 on Ebay that was said to have come off 40 years ago and not messed with. Problem is what was it removed from and why if it lacked the GM PN???Ebay carb #231061824206.jpgHe did say a 68 vette and it has a 1358 assy date. Looks a little like mine, I think. Dale

Dale, The carb in the picture from Ebay has been worked on at some time in its past. I say that because the secondary lockout lever is missing and to remove that lever one must remove the choke pull-off assembly. This may be a little off-topic, but is related. The fast idle cam that is between the choke pull-off assembly and the carb body on my carb is steel. Most of the carbs I've looked at have a red plastic cam. In the JM there is a Product Campaign Bulletin dated March 3 1968 that tells dealers to install a blue cam on manual trans cars and a red cam on automatics. So, I'm thinking steel is definitely wrong, but is it red or blue plastic?

Mine is red and I think Terry has a red also but his is an auto and mine is manual so I guess I'm wrong here too. I talked to a restorer and he said yours was the correct bracket, no cover. Dale

John, I wish the cam color was the only problem we had. That's fixable with paint. I think your brackets are correct as I talked to a restorer and he said the only BB 68 was the style you have and he had no covers. Dale

The steel fast idle cams came later-----maybe 1972 or later. However, they were also used for some later SERVICE carbs for 68-69 applications.
