    1989 Hardtop Only?

A friend is looking at an '89 that owner says is an original hardtop only car. I am unfamiliar with '89's. Could a 1989 be ordered with hardtop only and no soft top?

    Thanks!

I do not remember that as an available choice. I show 9749 convertibles built in 89. Soft top breakdown matches that number. 4543 black, 3592 white and 1614 saddle. Total em up to make 9749. I won't say it didn't happen, but I'd have to see some paperwork to back this claim.

Thanks Tom. I remember a '68 with hardtop only but do not recall an '89 era car that way. Thanks again, Steve

Steve, It may have been likely the conv. top assy. was removed to make some room for storage with the hardtop installed

          Most likely the case.

            Steve------

As far as I know, no C4 convertible could be ordered with a hard-top only. The last year for hard-top only was 1975.

Joe, I know of a '68 and a '69 ordered with hard top only (Two different owners who I knew.). Both were silver, black vinyl interiors, base engines and automatics. Steve

Joe knows of one too. It's in his garage. But a 68, 69 and 75 are C3 cars, not C4s.

I agree. Earlier cars had a folding top delete choice.

Steve: All your friend has to do is order either the build sheet or the OEM window sticker from the National Corvette Museum and this question will be definitively answered. All he needs is the VIN to order these official documents. https://store.corvettemuseum.com/ser...buildsheet.asp P.

Better yet, the RPO label may should indicate the top color !
