    67 Door Latches, Need Picture

Can somebody who has their door latches off the car, take a picture of them for me, please.

When this car was taken apart, they removed all the springs from them, then had them plated. The inside door latches won't work with these two extra pieces installed on the latch. I think I figured where the bars, rods go. But, where do the the springs go?

This is a 63 - 66 latch. At least you will have an idea if no one else posts a picture

          Perfect! Thank you very much.
I could figure the rod out, but the spring did not make sense.
          Appreciate the help!

            Gary,
The inside door pull should NOT work without the formed wire piece. That piece makes the connection so the pull will function. It appears to me from your photo the tip is worn thin. The slot it sits in is also nicked up. The fit of the rod in the slot is critical for function of the inside pull. A worn assembly (rod & slot) will just result in the wire twisting when engaging the inside pull. I repaired mine by making a new wire rod duplicating the shape. I used a .006" bigger stainless steel wire. The slot I hand filed out to a perfect close fit with the new wire. The slot fit needs to be almost tight to the wire. And make sure you have no burrs on the wire from forming it up. Use a fine jeweler's file for smooth even straight slot sides.

My I suggest to work the entire linkage with a thinned grease since the plating process has taken up any intended clearances in the latch. The take up is due to rust, not the zinc as the plating will not coat any close fitting parts.

              Thanks Gene.
I am going to work on those this morning and finish assembling them, getting them working right.
One rod, the passenger side, was all bent-up, from them taking it apart. I heated and straightened it up, but I think I still have some work to do.
              Thanks for the tips.
