July 69 Side Post battery for judging

Who makes the best battery in terms of the least point deductions for judging?

Gary, Restoration Battery is listed in the Driveline Magazine. 1969 cars after serial number 22,000 use R79S side post batteries. From want I hear these Batteries should be used for Judging only, or carry jumper cables with you.

Sadly the only thing to differentiate that R79S from the R89S that they sell for 1970L> is the sticker on the battery. A real R79S is like chicken lips, but fortunately the judges are not so picky and I guess that is a good thing.

I thought the reproduction batteries result in a 10 point deduction. They are easy to detect.

There are 25 points available for Originality for the battery. I'd be surprised to lose 10 points for the reproduction since it's far better than any other currently marketed battery when it comes to correctness.

I've had mine working in my 1972 since 2005 with no issues. I know that with any battery I'm on borrowed time at this point, but I can't complain one bit about longevity.

The Judging Reference Manual assigns 30% deduction for minor differences. That comes to 6 pts.

Same here. Have mine installed in my 68 427 since August 2008. Utilizing a Battery Tender to keep it charged since installing it.

I took a 10 point deduction on a Current day Delco service replacement. And it has a 7 year nationwide warrantee.
