I have just picked up a set of aluminum bolt ons with starburst hubcaps. Do the wheels use the same lug nuts as the steel wheels or are there lug nuts that are unique to these wheels. Also, how do you get the hubcaps off? Thanks in advance for your help. Larry

Re: 1967 Aluminum wheel lug nuts???
Bolt-on Lug nuts differ from Rally Wheels.
The after-market vendors have them. For example, if you have a Paragon Catelog, the kit is listed on Page 116.
The starburst hubcaps come off, per your jacking instructions on the jack board, with a screwdriver that came with each of the 720 original sets of bolt-on wheels.

Re: 1967 Aluminum wheel lug nuts???
I may have just learned something. I didn't know there was a different lug nut for 67 aluminum wheels. I thought they were the same as those used for the steel wheels. What is different?- Top

Re: 1967 Aluminum wheel lug nuts???
The original ’67 N89 Aluminum wheels used a standard lug nut like the steel wheel. Take a look at the AIM, UPC N89, sheet A1 – “existing nut.” Early repro's used a non-standard lug. Corvette America Gen IV repro's also use a standard lug.Last edited by Michael M.; October 26, 2013, 01:15 PM.- Top

Re: 1967 Aluminum wheel lug nuts???
I just received the email below so please note how this information differs from my first post.
Original bolt-ons option N89 are machined to use standard rally wheel OEM lug nuts.
Repros require the special lug nuts and washers...
The source of the email received is from a very reliable member ..... Oh well, at least I got the screwdriver correct or is there a debate on if the screwdriver print should be two lines vs. one line?

Jim,
You're sense of humor is showing through. You know the one line vs. two lines question is for PCV valves.- Top
