    65 chassis tear down

I am tearing down my 65 BB chassis , on the rear lower cross member ( the one the rear housing nose goes to ) there are two about 2" pieces of black tape looped around . The paint under the tape is still black , it looks like it could have held the E brake cable from dragging or held the brake line in place while on the assy. line . Anybody seen this before ?

Bill, I've disassembled three 396 cars, but I've never seen that before. Tony
