Re: Rust Removal Method Question for Front and Rear Spring Restore

I was just curious if it was possible once I saw the steel beads on sale. But I was in one of the large well known corvette vendors in central FL getting my a-arms riveted. They had a large heavy duty cabinet for shot penning that was essentially air driven blast cabinet. It didn't have any spinning disks as mentioned above.

Since in restoration our goal may be more appearance than function, perhaps with the right nozzle air blast might do the job. Why not ask the folks at that shop?

Here's what a typical industrial shot-peening cabinet looks like; this is a Viking machine at Eaton-Detroit Spring, and the door and walls are about 3" thick.

Thanks for the info. That Viking machine is a serious machine. Since the shot is moving at 300 ft per sec. , you certainly don't want a gloved hand in there like a sand blast cabinet. Looks like they place the part in there and the shot comes from the bottom. Then they turn in around to do the other side.
