I have a real 7352 starter I bought at Bloomington in the 80s . John Pirkle Sr. looked at it when I bought it and said it was a real one . My question is it has a 3 hole cast iron nose . Could that be correct or do I need to look for a correct nose ? I have some photos of a two hole someone ( I think Joe L. ) sent me in 08 . If a two hole is correct are there any ID marks .

A 65 396 and L88's would use an aluminum snout for the small flywheel.- Top

Yes, the original '352' starter had an aluminum starter nose with "two hole" configuration for one long and one short starter bolt.
In this case, the starter must have gone through a commercial rebuilding operation and ended up re-configured which is VERY common. You were lucky enough to find a previously rebuilt starter with a very rare part number on the starter frame. The starter can be re-configured back to original. The only part of it that's rare is the frame with a rare part number. The rest of the stuff is quite easy to obtain. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top
