1993 coupe distributor installation

Hi Guys. You are not going to believe this but I recently bought a 1993 coupe to work on and the previous owner had spliced the spark plug wires!!! I changed the wires. The distributor seems to have gotten some water in it and I am having to change the distributor also. What a mess. The distributor I ordered is supposed to be complete and ready to install right out of the box. Is there any way of installing it without removing the pulley? Any other helpful hints for installation? The shop manual mentioned having the number one piston in the totally upright position. How would I do this? Sorry for all the questions but I have more enthusiasm than experience. Thanks Eddie Robin

It will take you four hours to get to it and less then five minute to swap it out. The pulleys must come off along with the balancer and water pump.
