    Rebuilding a 1100544 Alternator

Can you clean an alternator except for voltage regulator with solvent or carb cleaner? Thanks in advance.

Yup, but it will not do much for the finish other than wash the oil and grease off. To get the correct appearance tumbling in a Wheelabrator is what they use for valve covers, intakes, and alternators, I do not have a clue as to what they use for media in the machine. I got a wild hair about twenty years ago and decided that we needed one of those for our shop. Wrong! Not at $18k, a lot cheaper to send the parts out.
