Is it correct that Jan 67 base 300hp intake 3872783 could be dated 6 or 7 mths prior to build date? This seems too long but heard these were batched and not uncommon for long lead time. Have 3rd edition Judge Guide but no reference to acceptable lead time on intakes. Thanks in advance

Re: 67 300 hp acceptable dates
David,
Take a look at the new 5th addition 67 Judging Guide, page 120.
The note under the intake manifold chart for the 3872783 intake manifold says:
"Note: maybe dated as early as June, 1966 due to a banking program at the Saginaw Foundry"
I have a late June 67/300 and all of my numbers are in June 67, except for the 3872783 intake manifold which was dated in 1966.
You can thank John Hinckley for resolving this issue with the new manual.Jerry Fuccillo

Re: 67 300 hp acceptable dates
David,
I have a early 67 300hp car built September 23, 1966 and my menory tells me the intake manifold is dated sometime in April 66.- Top

Think about it, 300hp Corvette in '67 used a Holley, EVERYTHING else on the pass car side used a Q-jet. Makes a lot of sense that way...Bill Clupper #618- Top

The story of my survey that uncovered the anomaly that resulted in the delay of up to a year from casting to assembly of the 783 intake manifolds on '67 300's was published in the "Restorer" in late 2002 or early 2003, and was recognized in the Fourth Edition, Second Printing (2005) of the '67 JG, and carries over to the new just-published Fifth Edition.- Top
