    65 starter bolt ?.

For judging what starter bolts should I use for my 65, the judging book says black phosphate, and what head marking should be on them thanks

Personally, I've never seen a black phosphate-finished starter bolt but it's possible they were used on some C2s. All that I've seen are zinc plated.

Ralph--zinc or cad clear is the appropriate finish. The new 6th edition (which has been written) corrects the black phos designation and instead calls for zinc or cad plated attachment bolts.

        Hope this helps.

I have seen various headmarkings- WB, RBW, M, C etc. The configuration of the bolt is important.

                Ralph,

I am not sure it's been mentioned but these starter bolts are grade eight with six lines on the head.

Here's a shot, on a '65. These are "C" headmarks with the 6 radial lines.

                    Tony,
Not to put you on the spot but is there an ETA as when that will be turned loose to the public?

I've mentioned it before, I would sure like to see a Kindle Version.

I don't want to turn this thread into a discussion about the JM, I can start another thread for that if need be.

Mike----Gene Leonard, Marco Hartner and I have completed the draft on the '65 chassis re-write. We are in the process of adding more photos to the text. I talked with some of the national judges at Hampton, VA last July about the status of the other sectional updates, i.e. interior, exterior, mechanical. Those three sections seem to be less clear. I am discussing this with the "powers" while in Frisco this weekend. Email me privately and I'll share what I learn. I'd rather answer your other questions via private email: anthonystein@att.net. Feel free to email me.
