    70 Door Panels

Have a 70 with Bright Blue interior Trim Code #411 and I need to replace the door panels. I found a set of original panels out of a 71, Trim Code 412. From the pics I see online, this 71 blue looks like my 70 blue, but hard to say for sure. In looking at the Judging Guide, 70 411= Blue Vinyl & 71-72 412= Dark Blue Vinyl. In looking at A-K catalog, I see 70 Metalic Blue, but nothing for 71 or 72 in blue. The other thing I notice in the pics of the 71 is the sewing stich appears to be white, but in looking at the pics (poor quality) on A-K website, I see no difference in color of the vinyl vs. the sewing. My original panels appear to have been black and the factory sprayed them metalic blue, therefore the sewing is the same color as the vinyl.
My questions are: 1) Are these 2 trim codes the same color? 2) is the sewing suppose to be a contrasting color (white) or sprayed the same color as the vinyl?
    Thanks,
    Mike

      Re: 70 Door Panels

Terry, thanks for the response. Well at least you confirmed they are not the same color. I also was surprised on the factory spraying over another color, that's what it appears to be though-same thing on the seats-they were tan originally & have dates on the back side. I owned this car in 98, sold it right away and got it back a couple of years ago-the interior was ruff then and does not appear to have been ever replaced. My only thought is, this is a late July car and perhaps they ran out of Bright Blue panels, seats covers and sprayed over some different colored ones they had in inventory, to finish the job. I will be very interested to get opinions on the sewing color.
      Thanks,
      Mike

My original 1970 tan door panels have tan stitching.
