    68 Steel Wheel Semi-Gloss Primer

I just had my 5 wheels Acid Dipped. They will be done this week. I'm planning at least to etch, prime them. I checked the archives but never found what the pros use for a self etch, prime semi gloss black. Any help would be great. Jeff

Jeff, I used a etching primer on my 72 wheels. I Think its a good idea. If your using a spray can, that is the way to go.

Jeff, the best primer I found for bare metal is a product from PPG. It's DP90LF, which is a non sanding epoxy primer. It has the correct semi-gloss black color you are looking for. You mixing ratio is 1:1, one part primer to one part hardener.

Jeff, DP90 properties are its a corrosion-resistant primer and a primer/sealer. You can directly apply it to bare metal. Etching primer is not needed but will never hurt if you want the extra step. The ratio is 2:1 not 1:1.
