    67 Powerglide Leak

Need assistance determining how to fix the small leak (picture attached) on the side of the transmission near some of the linkage. I assume there is a seal that is leaking, but not sure how to even start the repair. New 67 owner, so thanks to all the knowledgeable people that will respond!!

Not a powerglide expert, so let's see if we can get this back up to the top for you. Have you tried doing a search here for prior threads?

      Dwayne,

If I remember correctly, there is at least one "O" ring and also a seal involved here. Or possibly two "O" rings? There are two shafts, one inside the other, that go through the transmission case. One is the shift selector and the other was the throttle valve.

In order to replace the seals, the transmission pan has to be removed and the internal linkage disconnected. That isn't a big deal and there's nothing scary about it.

However, (yeah, there's that word again) I'm not sure that there is enough clearance between the transmission/lever assembly and the body floor pan to be able to remove the shaft. I suppose there probably is enough room but I just don't know.

If there isn't enough clearance, it may be possible to remove the transmission rear mount which may lower it far enough to remove the shaft assemblies.

Look in your GM Chassis Service or overhaul manual for pictures of the internal linkage.

Thank you for the comments. It is a small drip, so looks like I will wait a while prior to tackling.
