    Hoist for 1958 hardtop

Hi can anyone recommend a good hoist for my 1958 hardtop for long-term suspension? Name and where to buy? I was thinking of an electric one but since I don't anticipate using it much if ever, would you recommend just a manual one?
    Thanks
    Sara

Harbor freight has an electrical hoist winch with remote button control and auto lift shut off. I have my '66 hardtop hanging from one mounted to the ceiling ( top only weighs about 50 lbs?). Best part - it is only $99.00.

What did you use to strap it and attach the winch?

I made my own with an eye bolt screwed into a beam in the garage ceiling, 2 pulleys, rope and a hand crank winch that goes on a boat trailer. I used 2 nylon web straps to attach the top to the hook on the bottom pulley. Very inexpensive. With a two part line in the pulleys you really don't need a winch because the top is so light you can easily pull the rope by hand.

Now I have a larger shop with lots of floor space. So I made a rack to hold the top. $15 worth of parts.

I like your stand, one question I have heard or been told that the top should not rest on the window. I have a wall mount and have the top with the front header resting where you have you back window. Any problems or views.
                Thanks

I can see how it might possibly distort sitting on the window end. But I noticed all the commercially available expensive metal rolling stands are designed for the top to sit that way. I very rarely put the hardtop on so I haven't noticed a problem with fit.

I made one from boat ski poly rope and 3 's' hooks. One in each of the top front clamps, over the top and one at the rear center window - my 66 has a metal tab with hole. make the fronts short so the front clamp touches the top first so that you can guide the lower attaching point and not scratch the parts.
