    63 coupe body lift

I am going to lift the body on my 63 coupe and I was contemplating using my engine hoist (portable type)
I have a 7 ft. 6 ceiling height any one have experience using this method ?

IMO that's too low. Is there any way you can just do it outdoors? Clearing the fuel tank and the engine is going to be really tight at that height.

I think Mike is correct, really tight. Here's some measurements on my 67. My ceiling is 8'3''. The body is sitting on a bare frame, the frame is sitting on HF furniture rollers with a 4 x 4 on top of the rollers (8 1/2 in to the top of the 4 x 4). The measurement from the top of the car to the ceiling is 4 feet , so your clearance with the frame on rollers and a 4 by would be 3' 9" . And you have to take into account how much distance the end of the hoist and lifting attachment will be above your roof,

I have lifted several coupe bodies using a floor crane as pictured with the 67 body.
The difference is that I lifted them from inside the body. I had a sliding crossbar that
went from each door support bar. It would slide fore and aft to compensate for proper balance.
Not much height was needed this way.

Hope you can see these as I am not that good with pics.
I used the rotisserie side to side and slid the frame works under then used 4 home made plum bobs to locate the hole position.
Then lowered the body side to side with the hydraulic cylinder till it met the frame, then measured for shims.
The rotisserie gave me front to back, side to side lifting and I was able to do it alone.

            Wow, never thought of that.

I used an engine lift with slings but had to work out the logistics of arm angle and max height. Sliding the engine hoist arm under the T bar and using a beam from the hoist to the rockers with slings to the rockers would have gotten around all of that.
