C2 Soft Top Spears... Flanges or No Flanges???

I've been going over my recent flight judging sheets to begin correct what is wrong with my '64 Corvette. At a past regional meet I took a one point deduct for having the flanged edges on my soft top spears. The newest judging guide seem to say that it could have either type. What is correct for judging? The soft top is not original that the car came with.

    Thanks,

    James West

Here is an original from my Mar64. Top gets a lot of attention at the meets. No wings and show the distance which at one time was another error that cost people extra holes in top.

A recent post discussed this subject. These are off a "pre-flat #1 bow" (1st design, before mid-'65 ?) frame header. Consensus seems to be that this type are original.

        Guys,

Thanks for the responses. I am also wondering about a late '65 convertible top... flanges or no flanges??? With the new 1965 judging guide coming out early next year it would be nice to know since I will also be having a '65 convertible flight judged also.

P.S. Alan, do you still own your Buick T-Type?

        THanks again,

So I take it the 1963-1964 Corvette convetible soft top spears should not have the flanged edges and a "late" production 1965's should? I'm getting ready to have a late production (22,XXX) 1965 flight judged for the first time and would like to get it right.

Thanks to all who replay and to wayne for the link to the June 2013 discussion, lots of good info.

            Regards,

            James West
