in the ncrs book it says the brake light indicator is supposed to flash is that correct? mine just lights up solid. if so is it a specific lamp or other?

Hi Adam,
The brake light indicator is supposed to 'blink' / flash.
It should start out as solid but after it heats up a short while it should start blinking.
Perhaps you didn't wait for it to heat up and assumed it was incorrect?

The 1963 parking brake alarm lamp and the headlight indicator lamp are GE #257 flashing lamps. They flash after the bulb heats up for a few seconds and flash on and off to warn of brake or headlight bucket position.
I think these two bulbs were used in these positions from 63-66 year cars.- Top
