See picture. Does it make any difference which terminal on the back of the switch the two pink wires are attached to? Is one pink wire heavier than the other. If so, which goes to which? It's tough wearing bifocals. Yes, I know I am missing the light to the lighter.

(Do your directionals now work even if the ignition switch is in the "off" position? They shouldn't. They should work in the run and crank positions only.)
The thick pink wire powers the heater, radio, and gauges. That should attach to the switch terminal that has power in "run" only.
The thin pink wire powers the directionals. That should attach to the switch terminal that has power in "run" and "crank".
The third switch terminal is hot all the time and should have no wire attached.
(But my early '59 has a hot wire going to that terminal. It looks like that got eliminated during the '59 model year...?)- Top
