64 motor mounts

I am really having trouble with motor mounts for a 1964 small block, the first ones came from Corvette Central and were 1 5/8 thick, way to small, the second set came from Napa, they are 1 3/4 thick and this is the same as the original ones I took off, but upon installing them I am still short of getting the bolts in by more than 1/2 inch, I have tried doing each side moving the frame around and can not get them to work, I am considering making some shims for both sides to bring the mounts inward so the bolts will go through, anyone got any suggestions?

Mike, do you have pics of the original mounts that you can attach to this thread or email to us?
