1969 427 Exhaust Sleeve/Insert

Did all 2.5 BB exhaust systems get the sleeve/insert added to the head pipe?
I have side exhaust on my 1969 and was not sure.

The NOS 454 head pipes I purchases for my 72 had these spot welded in.

If they are needed on side pipe systems - does anyone have a lead for them?

Some forward exhaust pipes had the extensions as an integral part of the pipe assembly (as you have apparently observed
on the 454 pipes). If the pipes have the extensions, then no separate extension is necessary (or, even possible to install). If the pipes don't have the extension, then the extensions need to be added regardless of whether the car has standard exhaust, N-11 or N-14.

The 2-1/2" extensions were GM #3890689. The 2" extensions were GM #3890382. Both are GM-discontinued. However, no problem here. These extensions can be found in just about any auto parts store, even the national chains. Just go to the exhaust section and you should find them on the shelf. Usually, they sell for "peanuts".
