I've had several requests for the Excel gear chart, so I've attached it to a new thread. Since the TDB will not accept uplaoded xls files, I changed the file type to doc. Save it to your desktop or folder of choice. Then change the file to to xls before you open it, or it won't work.

The axle ratio you picked with a '66 or '67 L-79 dictated the transmission ratios; with a wide-ratio 4-speed, the 3.36 was standard, and the 3.55 was optional. With a close-ratio 4-speed, the 3.70 was standard and the 4.11 was optional. 3.08 and 4.56 weren't available with the L-79.

Thanks John, that is exactly what I've found on cars. I always thought the rear end ratio controlled the tranny as to wide or close ratios.
