Re: 1995 corvette antifreeze
If the Judging Guide calls for green-dyed anti-freeze, then I'm sure that Peak green will be OK. I don't recall what color the original antifreeze was in my 1992 but my vague recollection is that it was red (not Dexcool, though, as that was not used at that time).
From a functional perspective, I recommend Zerex G-05. It has a pale yellow color. It does comply with the GM antifreeze performance standard for your system and it is the best for a system which uses a copper/brass heater core (as your application does). In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Re: 1995 corvette antifreeze
I don't know what your owners manual or the TIM&JG says (You should find out), but in general GM used green in 1995 and orange (DexCool) in 1996. There are a few models that are exceptions and that is why you need to check the references that others and I have suggested.Terry- Top

Re: 1995 corvette antifreeze
Here is a pamphlet that came out in late 1995. This caused a change in the color of the anti-freeze.
I will look up the question of what color is judged later this evening.Last edited by Pat F.; September 19, 2013, 06:17 PM.PAT, Central New Jersey and Florida Chapters- Top

Re: 1995 corvette antifreeze
I have seen one (the 1995 TIM&JG) but I do not have a personal copy. If the expansion bottle is opaque the color could be judged regardless of what the manual says -- unless it specifically prohibits judging it and I would doubt that prohibition exists.Terry- Top

Re: 1995 corvette antifreeze
I do not often disagree with GM's recommendations. However, in this case, I do. I think this move to Dex-Cool was pretty much an "across-the-board" thing for GM in 1995. By that time, virtually all GM cars were equipped with aluminum radiators and aluminum heater cores. Corvette was an exception, though. While it had been exclusively equipped with an aluminum radiator since 1984, it continued to use a copper/brass heater core right through the end of C4 production in 1996. I don't like Dex Cool with any copper/brass components. So, for Corvette, I think the move to Dex-Cool was a little bit premature. 1997 should have been the first year for Dex-Cool for Corvette.
I recommend Zerex G-05 for all C4 Corvettes. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Re: 1995 corvette antifreeze
Folks, I think the initial question here was " Is the color of the anti-freeze judged"? I reviewed the 94-96 Judging Manual in the Radiator, Expansion Tank, Surge Tank and Radiator Cap and there is no reference to the color of the anti-freeze. The Judging Manual under the section captioned -Expansion Tank and Hose states "All 1994, 95 and 96 Corvette expansion tanks are made of translucent off-white plastic".
The answer to the initial question of judging anti-freeze color, is, not now, but when the new Judging Manual is released, judging of the color of the antifreeze will be addressed.
In what format, I do not know. Only received the information that it will be judged, again to what extent, I do not know.
That's all the information that I can provide right now about the up coming judging change concerning the color of the anti-freeze..PAT, Central New Jersey and Florida Chapters- Top
