    54 Door Jambs

There are two distinctly different door jambs on this car. Has anyone seen this on an un-restored car? I'm trying to determine if I need to create a defined edge on the passenger side, eliminate the defined edge on the driver side or just leave them alone. I know they were hand made in 54 but I find it hard to believe they left the factory like this.

Mine was an unrestored late 54. NO defined edge.

Thanks Cathy. Maybe the undefined edge should have been smoothed before leaving the factory.

I would keep striping paint and primer off - was a 1/4 put on that car ?

I haven't found any serious or major damage on the car; just a few minor dings/gouges in the exterior body. The jambs are just unusual. Chris, which photo that I posted matches the jambs on your car?

I am restoring 54 #66 .... here are snapshots of the driver and passenger side jabs from my car. Currently I am stripping the paint and have found no damage/replacement to the quarter panels but as you can see I have not stripped the jambs yet.
            Good Luck!

John, Thanks for posting the photos. Obviously there are defined edges and I also noticed there are cutouts on both jambs for the striker plate.

Attached is the jam of 1954 #3803 - press molded St Louis car...and I attached the jam of 1953 #201 - hand laid jig - Flint car.....You can really see the difference.

Thanks to each of you for your contributions. It's hard to say for sure but I suspect the passenger jamb on this car has been reworked. I'll dig deeper and let you know if I discover body filler not similar with the time of manufacture.
