    Adjusting 1963 Roadster Doors

Does anyone have any hints on adjusting doors for front and back gaps. I have the 1963 shop manual but need all the help I can get before I loosen the bolts.
    Thanks,
    Jeff

I just reinstalled both of my doors. The trick is supporting the bottom of the door between the door and the sill. Remove your sill plates if you haven't already. You can use deep sockets for this purpose but I just used wooden shims. With the bottom of the doors supported, you can slide the door fore and aft to even out the gaps before tightening the bolts. Be sure to maintain the existing shims between the hinge and the doors as well.

    Good Luck,
    tc

You need to tighten all the hinge bolts to get a good gap . I tried tightening just three and found when the rest are tightened it can change .

The body shims can also change the door gaps. If you get the front the way you want it but have difficulty adjusting the rear you may have to add or delete a shim from the rear body mount. The back of my door was a little high for the rear of the body and by adding a shim I was able to raise the rear to meet the height of the door.

          Jeff,

You didn't say but is the body on the frame, on it's wheels with engine and all other heavy items installed? If on jack stands, you will find that the body gaps will change dramatically when the car is complete and on it's wheels.
