Re: 1972 Wire ID help
Yep. For sure, Bill and Lawrence have nailed it. The wire is supposed to run to the solenoid, held against the inboard edge of the LH rocker cover.
Hope this helps.Don Lowe

Re: 1972 Wire ID help
Glen, saw your last post this morning and remembered I had some pics of my engine without air cleaner can on it. It shows the tan wire's routing. I assume it's TFP, since the car's been judged several times this way, however, if someone sees something out of order, please let me know. Hope this helps.

Re: 1972 Wire ID help
Thanks Don. That is a great looking engine compartment for sure. It appears that one of my previous owners has removed the solenoid. The fellow I bought my car from had the engine rebuilt and I got boxes of all the old parts he removed. I hope it's in one of them. I'll check today.
Again thanks for the photo it helps a lot,

Re: 1972 Wire ID help
Don,
I dug through the boxes of replaced parts that came with my car and found the solenoid. The previous owner rebuilt the engine so I guess he just removed it. I think it's original as it looks a bit worse for wear. Is there a method to test it operation prior to re-installing it?
Thanks,
