Whatever brand you chose, wear safety glasses and/or face shield when jump starting. I could tell you why, but it would make this a long post that no one would read. Just trust me.

We have two Schumacher SE-4022s in the shop and they're great, even though they are manual chargers. They have more features than the one that Joe listed (which is probably made by Schumacher) and they are also cheaper than Sears.

I trust Schumacher products. They are reliable and inexpensive. If you are looking for a portable jump starter, try Schumacher. They have at least two models, I've shown the cheaper one below. The portable power/jump starters are also more expensive than the wheeled charger/starters (which have more features).

Thanks Paul. I'm just planning ahead. I have a Restoration Battery, R59S installed since August of 2008. No worries yet but best to be prepared.
