Those are not factory machining marks. At some point, the block in this engine apparently had a "very light cut" taken with a rotary broach. It was apparently light enough that the stampings were preserved (as the stampings do appear shallower than I would expect). Of course, there are other possibilities, too.

        What's the big deal about a LS6? I have one in my '01 Z06

I thought it was always a little cheesy of Chevy to reuse engine option codes. Starting with the LT-1. Now there are 3 generations of LT-1. It has become simply marketing hype.

Was there ever any logic to engine options codes?

They have to re-use them. There are only so many 3 character alpha-numeric codes and since, in the GM system, all engine option codes have a first character of "L", that means there are really only 2 character code combinations.

In the photo with the hood open there is no alarm switch or even an indication there ever was in its usual location for a UA-6 alarm. In other photos that are not very clear or sharp many items/parts are not consistent with known originals but then same items/parts are. Plus a very sloppy restoration of the chassis in my opinion. Am I being to harsh and in need of sensitivity training again.
I would be very very skeptical about this car as being authentic from what is shown.

At the least, they can "certify" the car was shipped.

That is a car I have thought about buying several times over the last few months, I think for the price it is great.
