66 427 head bolts, are they judged?

I read the 66 judging manual and it is not clear on what to check for head bolts. Any one have a correct source for head bolts or should I use a good bolt and assume they are not checked during judging?

Don't assUme. Regardless of what the JM does or doesn't say any item can be judged. The only exception would be if the JM specifically says: "do not judge." In that case, if the judge tries to make a deduction you should politely point out the passage in the manual that says: "Do not judge." You will not find too many prohibitions on judging specific items.

I am thinking if I have enough paint coverage no one will be able to see the head markings.

And then you will get a bigger deduction for excessive paint on the engine...
