I know this is an old thread but I was searching for information regarding '67 big blocks with chrome valve covers. Anyway, I am helping a friend with the purchase of a Canadian delivered 427/390 roadster. It is an unrestored original being purchased from the original owner. The car has chrome valve cover and all paper work with the car. With the paper work is supposedly a letter from GM addressing the chrome valve covers. Has anyone heard of documented chrome valve covers on a 1967 big block (non-L89 of course)?

Rob I own a 1967 427/435 K19 car which has chrome valve covers. I got the car from the original owner and he swears the car came equipped with them. I have my doubts since he worked for Chevrolet in one of the zone offices and the car had warranty work performed on the engine. There is nothing in the original documents including the tank sticker to indicate chrome valve covers were original to the car.

        Hello Terje,
        this is right.
I know of a few these export cars personally.
One stands in the Netherlands (C2), one in Austria (C3, in 1970) and I myself has a 71.
The previous owner of my Corvette had imported another two other ones about the car dealer "Auto Becker" in Dusseldorf, Germany. The vehicles the "Auto Becker" had imported everybody is over Bremerhaven were introduced - all other vehicles over Rotterdam, the Netherlands.
These vehicles have something else Trim Plate - there is no stroke "General Motors Co...." and for it a "DD". On the tanksticker stands for example: "V78 = DELETE CERTIFICATION PLATE", "ZX1 = EXPORTPROCEDURE = 1" and "ZY7 = EXPORT NON-TAXABLE STATUS"
        Regards Andreas

Andreas, very interesting. Any chance you could post photos of your referenced trim tag and docs? Thanks, Chris
