    68 ignition cylinder removal

I bought the tool. Lefty loosey righty tighty right? Turn counter clockwise no problem till I come close to the end. I didn't try to force it. The small hole on the facia. Do I have to stick in say a paper clip to release it? Many thanks as always.

Jeff. I use a paper clip and stick it in the hole and turn the switch it to the right I believe. It should come right out.

I thought you put the key in and turn to acc position an then put the paper clip in the hole and it releases the cylinder. Been along time since i changed one.

        Re: 68 ignition cylinder removal

Thank you jack and Jeff. The outside ring that screws on to hold the switch in place has four notches in it. I bought the tool to take the ring off. I get to a point where I can't loosen it any more. I don't want to force it. Any thoughts?

Jeff did you take the cylinder out first ? Possibaly the nut is stopped because the cyl. is binding the nut. just a thought.

Thank you. The cylinder had to come out first before you can take the ring off. Yes Jeff the key has to be in acc. To pull out. Thanks, guys another baby step to resto heaven.

Jeff just to shift gears to another topic; do you know how long the return line rubber hose is, at the bottom by the fuel pump? This would be the section of rubber fuel hose where the two metal return lines come together.
