C2 Coupe hinge pillar weatherstrip installed photos please

I have a 66 coupe and I have been getting conflicting info about whether or not 66 had this hinge pillar weather strip (they were missing on my car when I got it). In any event, I bought replacements and I can't see how they could possibly install correctly unless I install them what I perceive to be upside down. Any pictures anyone can post of installed ones is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Here are my 67 coupe weather strips. Passenger side. I assume they are the same for 66.

Ok, looks like I have to cut the WS where it goes over the drip rail & gets riveted to the body.......do you remember cutting them to slip over the drip rail?

66's hinge pillars are totally different than the 67's. My next door neighbor has a 66 and we fiddled around for hours trying to fit that weatherstrip on the pillar with no luck. The 67 has a pronounced lip at the top where the weatherstrip aligns over the top of the pillar. Also, the 66 pillar has no holes for the rivits/push pins to fit into.

          Brian,

According to the '66 JG, only convertibles in 1966 had the hinge pillar weatherstrip. There is a large black and white photo (and text saying "convertibles only") on page 16. See pages 15-17 for more details.

            Brian,

I thought that early 66 coupes did not have the weatherstrip that you are referring to. Check the 66 AIM. I seem to remember that there was a strip added at some point in 66 production??

I don't know if the same part that was used for 65 was also used for later 66??

My late 1966 Coupe (K19) build date does not have the weatherstrip.

The '66 JG is correct - that weatherstrip, which comes off the A-pillar and attaches to the body pillar with three screws, was used on '63-'65 and '67 coupes, but was NOT used on '66 coupes. No, we don't know why - if it was a production trial to save money, it failed, and was reinstated for '67. Photo below is a '63.

Mine is a late build (124180). The vendor's catalogs all say63-67 for that WS. They need to get that right. Hopefully SmartParts will take it back.....bought it at Carlisle. They have no catalog or website but I did use my credit card. Thank you all for the input!!!
