Just getting ready to start on my 71 LS6 that needed a new hood(old hood modified back in the day). Recently found a 68/69 427 hood. Are the hinges all the same? Also any thoughts on how far I go with restoration? Make it something I am not afraid to drive or spend the extra money on frame off restoration and NCRS worthy? It is a red/red Automatic.

The hinges are the same. However, the latch plates are different. You can use the 68-69 hood as long as you also use the 68-69 latch plates, the 68-69 latch bolts (mounted on the lower brackets), and the 68-69 cross cable. However, if the hood is from a VERY late 1969 (i.e. a car built after about September, 1969), then it's the same as 1971.In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top
