1958 Seat Frames

I'm looking at my seat frames. It's time to get serious about them. I've only had this car for about 35 years now.

Is the electrical tape original? Or, someone added it about 40 years ago? What are you guys doing with your seat frames? I'm thinking of having them bead blasted and then powder coater. On the other hand is there anything wrong with rattle can paint for this application?

No the tape is not original, someone was being creative, maybe it was making noise/loose??

Nothing wrong with bead blasting and then painting them. I have used Rust-oleum primer and paint with good results. Some will disagree ,but powder coating while is good for some applications I would not think (opinion) is needed for the seatframes.

One thing I discovered over the years is that powder coating encapsulates the parts. No moisture can penetrate the powder coating. It's sort of like putting the part in a plastic envelope. The trouble is the part looks like it was powder coated. I then paint over the powder coating so the part looks to have been properly restored. Ok - I'm a little goofy and probably guilty of obsessive compulsive behavior. I have been an NCRS member for a while though. That hasn't helped.
