All, the tribute at the Monterey Historic races was nothing short of outstanding. I had the good fortune of being near the display when they had an autograph session with the two gentlemen below. A thumbs up to Chevrolet for organizing it and recognizing this incredible piece of Corvette history. They provided an 8"x11" photo of both Dick and Bob posing in front of the car in '67 that we could have signed. Needless to say, the highlight of my trip. George

Re: Monterey 2013 Corvette Tribute
Great pic George! Wish I could have made it this year. Is that DeLorenzo's black L-88 next to Guldstrand? The one Wayne Walker restored. When Dick was at the Lone Star event/Texas Chapter judging event a few years ago I asked him about LeMans. He said they ran a 2.73's in the L-88 and it still accelerated to the point he was thrown back in his seat. he was pretty disgusted about Chevy, not Zora, requiring GM parts and then the failure. He also said Zora told him a trick to begin braking at the end of the Mulsanne. He recited the name of one of Zora's old girl friend at a point near the end of the straight. By the time he had said her name (Russian or German as I recall) he began braking. I hope we have these guys a long time because they are so rich in Corvette history and development. Thanks again George!

Re: Monterey 2013 Corvette Tribute
Steve, no, the black car next to them was "just" an L71. It was too loud to actually have a meaningful conversation with them, which was unfortunate. Their faces were beaming, though, and I think it was a reflection of how in awe we were to be with them at this event. It was magic. GeorgeAttached Files- Top

Re: Monterey 2013 Corvette Tribute
IIRC (?) the '67 was the Corvette the FIA (French) scrutineers had heart burn with the paint scheme but it finally got worked out. Gad you got the experience. One of those times us anal types will relive a thousand times!Congratulations!

If anyone is interested in Bob's 80th birthday celebration, it will be quite an event, though sponsored by a different marque....

Re: Monterey 2013 Corvette Tribute
The prototypes from the GM collection were off on their own with few people about. Amazing for such priceless cars! Great opportunity to inspect up close.
