Help with 1970 LT1 Pad Stamp - New Photos

Hi Guys. I just received a photo of the engine pad stamp, with the paint cleaned off. I adjusted a copy of the photo as well, changing the Shadows and Exposure, to possibly help see the broach marks.

Please let me know your thoughts now. It was impossible to tell before, with the paint covering the pad. I have seen the "6" similarly stamped on other pads for June 1970. I have also seen crooked stamps on many pads, especially Monday pads, which June 15th, 1970 was a Monday.

I am definitely not too sure about these broach marks.

The Body was built on July 3, 1970
Block cast date is June 5th, 1970 (#3970010)
    Transmission is June 24, 1970 - M20
Holley carb is 5th week of March 1970 - (#3972121)

    Thanks in advance,

    Steve Sperrazza

Steve, Everything looks pretty good except the letters CTK, those three letters appear as they were stamped after. Everything lines up except the last 3 letters, the broach marks look excellent. Anything is possible, but there may be some members here that have a lot more experience that I. Lets face it there were mistakes while stamping thousands of blocks. generally there were grind outs sometimes, Those letters appear not to be the typical font.

Hi Paul, are you providing these because you believe they are all original? The first pic is definitely a grind out do you believe it was factory? I had a 71 LT1 with an even worse grind out but in that case the vin number was half on the original pad and half on the grind out area ( which everyone accepted as real). The second and third pads are very different. Do you believe all three are original? Interesting variance if all accepted as real (I am sure you would know).

The 3 stampings I have are all believed be original. The grind out I have had done a bit of research and also back a few years ago posted with a LT-1 engine built the same day they were a perfect match. Or the first and second photo if you look closely the are the same. We believe the grind out was for a failure at Flint the block went to the repair shop the worker did a complte grind out across the pad. This was a late production engine and the line may have needed a 70 LT-1 fast but that is a assumption. Also the grinding marks from the rotary file were a match to other grind outs. Hope this helps.

I have several in my library that are consistent with these photos. There were some pretty ugly pads in that era

Thank you to all of the members who have voiced opinions, as well as providing photos of other pads. After seeing the three pads, as well as reading your opinions, I am more confused as to what is actually real or not.

It seems that most pads I have seen from 1970 Corvettes are not that straight, nor do they look that great. I am starting to think the UAW workers came back after the long strike in 1969, and did not work as diligently as they had before?

If anyone else has an opinion, or can share some original 1970 pad stampings, that would be great.

Thanks again to everyone who has offered their help,

All, I'm not wanting to post my pad on the internet but my 70 #14803 has a CTK that was stamped in a gang holder. Not a CTK hand stamped pad. It also has that funny looking 4 sided O in the V0702CTK
