Upon delivery some years, around '08 for certain, had a one sided sheet approx. 7.5" X 11", blue print on white paper that included VIN, delivery date, a PDI (Pre Delivery Inspection) date, and sections for check off that included operations, RPO's, appearance/body check, glove box materials, service orientation, etc. What was the earliest year GM had a document for delivery like this instead of only a verbal walk through?

Re: Pre-Delivery Inspection Document-Which Years?
Steven, are you interested in only delivery to Vette dealer or would you also include plant pick-up delivery - if so I had for along time a 65 L78 which was picked up at the plant and had to under go a inspection by the plant super and owner which had to be completed before the new owner could drive out. I still have a copy of it somewhere around the house.- Top

Re: Pre-Delivery Inspection Document-Which Years?
Hi Ed! I am interested in learning about any and all paperwork from the '53's to date. Plant deliveries are especially interesting. I wish I had taken advantage of St. Louis plant delivery for mine.

Re: Pre-Delivery Inspection Document-Which Years?
Steven, back in 65 if you wanted to pick up at the plant - your wish generated 3 rare items. First was a special form letting GM and the plant know you were going to pick it up. One copy of the form went to the local GM Zone Office and one copy to the plant. Next was a letter to the dealer selling the car asking them to contact the buyer and let the owner what date he could pick the car up and requested the owner tell them if he was bringing his own plates. Last was the plant inspection before they would turn the car over to the new owner. Interesting side note - the original owner lived in Wisc. and had sold the car in 1974 and never saw it again. I bought it in 2000 and after trying for a few years (thru google) I found his daughter in Wisc. - long story short I took the car to Bloomington in 2005 and his daughter drove her Dad down and we spent a day together. The funny thing about this whole story her Dad told me the plant pick-up was a after thought after he made the purchase. A few weeks after he brought the car home he got a check from GM for $23.00 to pay him back the original delivery charge. To bad he cashed the check - I would have liked to get that. Best wishes.- Top

Re: Pre-Delivery Inspection Document-Which Years?
Great story Ed! I "assume" if the owner did not have own plates then temporary plates were attached at the factory.? In '65 I ''assume" the plates were metal, not paper/cardboard like today? I doubt if they would be MFG plates so possibly DLR plates?
Thanks!

And my '67 form looks just like it, except dealer had a stamp for some things on it. Let me know if you would like a picture of it.Big Tanks In the High Mountains of New Mexico- Top
