    alternator rebuild

I have a nice 31,000 mile 65 alt. The only problem is the diodes have aged and the numbers and dates cant be read anymore . Does anyone sell correct dated diodes or stamps and how do you press them in without damage . I have sent parts to John Pirkle Sr. in the past and he did a great job but I would like to do this myself if possible .

          Bill,

You can use a small deep well socket and the lead will fit inside the socket as you will press from the back side. You also need a hydraulic or mechanical press. You can substitute a large c clamp if necessary. Go slow and easy and you will be proud of a perfect job.

Bill, I cannot find my diode press set. As Joe Ray stated, a socket will work, just take your time.
