I have a 95 ZR1 and am having the engine refinished in silver. Its clearly brighter than the dull stock finish. I know I will take a hit in Mechanical, #15 - Engine color. But will I also get hit with originality deductions under Cam covers, Plenum and intake manifold tubes, solely due to color ? These are correct stock components.

Re: Engine color deduction question - 95 ZR1
There would be a 20% deduction for each component. I don't have the judging sheets nearby but as I recall valve covers, intake etc. etc. Additional deductions could be made if overspray was present on adjacent parts.Pete Bergmann

Re: Engine color deduction question - 95 ZR1
I would interpret #15 engine colour to be the entire engine assembly and not just the engine case itself. If so, deducting for colour on other line items for cam covers etc would be double dipping.I have a 95 ZR1 and am having the engine refinished in silver. CDCIF - likely Not Typical Finish on a repainted component. Engine color would be a separate issue.Judging Chairman Mid-Way USA (Kansas) Chapter- Top

Re: Engine color deduction question - 95 ZR1
Should have been clearer. Many times the repainted finish is glossier than the original finish.
edit add: The judging manual also states to not judge the finish for the LT5 cam covers or the heads as part of section 15 Engine Color or Finish.Judging Chairman Mid-Way USA (Kansas) Chapter- Top
