Judging Question - Restoration of '70 Right A/C Kick Panel

I have the original right A/C kick panel that "Bubba" hacksawed at the factory leaving the cuts unfinished. I'd like to refinish these edges the interior color when I do the rest of the panel as the white plastic edges really stand out against the black panel but wouldn't want to incur a point deduct by "over restoring". Appreciate some guidance. Thanks...Clark

The "rough marks" made by the hacksaw job at St Louis is called out in the TIMJG, so I would expect even a novice judge such as myself would probably make mention of a "cleaned up" cut out. I couldn't imagine the deduct being significant, though. Chip.

The cuts you speak of look "Bubba-ized" but appaerntly are correct and are as rough as you describe on my "72. Go figure

I cannot recall ever taking a deduction for the rough cuts. They are explained in the judging guide.

Reba, I think his question is would you deduct points if the "rough cut" was cleaned up and the white edge dyed to color? Chip.
