Corvette 1966 Distributor

Several years ago I picked up a distributor from a friend who drags races Chevelles (1966-67) and said this distributor is from a 1966 smallblock Corvette. The part number reads 111156 on the metal band and according to black book, looks like a 327 350.

The code on the metal band reads (I believe), 5 KS 1 (it could be only a K and what looks like an S is a mirage).

The vacuum advance has what I what guess is a broadcast code MS with the number 236 16 underneath.

What do I have? Or, what am I missing?

First, the part number should be 1111156 (i.e. 7 digits).

It's just what you've found from the black book------a distributor applicable to a 1966 Corvette with L-79. Assuming the date code is "5 K 1", that would decode to October 1, 1965. So, the distributor was probably originally installed on an early 1966 Corvette with L-79.

All original Delco vacuum controls have the "MS" stamping. Yours is a GM #1116236 which is exactly what a 1111156 distributor was originally equipped with.
