    1966 AIM rear suspension questions

I'm putting the rear suspension back together on my 66 and I am trying to figure out what are the correct bolt/washer combos for a few of the locations; specifically on UPC4 B1 and B3 for the bolts on the diff mounting bracket and trailing arm pivot bolts, respectively. Between the 66 & 67 AIMs, these bolt/washer combos changed.

For 66, B1 shows the front brace bolt with a lock washer on either side and for 67 those lock washers are removed. My 66 didn't have the lock washers, but I'm sure my car's rear suspension has been apart a few times, so I was not sure if this was a change that happened on the assembly line that the AIM just didn't catch up with yet, or my car was simply missing the washers.

For 66, B3 shows the trailing arm pivot bolts not having a lock washer, but for 67 the lock washer was added. My 66 had lock washers and like before I'm wondering if this is correct and the AIM is wrong?

    Jeremy -

Your '66 should have the two washers shown on the '66 sheet B1 on the forward through-bolt, but they're flat washers, not lockwashers (the slotted nut and cotter pin provide the locking feature). Your trailing arm pivot bolt hardware should appear as shown in the '66 AIM.

My 66 AIM on B1 does show two washers; one on either side of the bracket. But the AIM states item [9] as 103328 L. Washer. Should that actually be a flat washer?

Yes - those washers are reinforcements/load-spreaders, not locking devices - that's an error in the A.I.M.
